The short version: Roost collects no data about you. Everything you put in the app stays on your device and, if you enable sync, in your own private iCloud. We can't see it, and we don't want to.
Roost does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There are no accounts to create, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. The app operates entirely on your device.
The boxes, items, reminders, photos, measurements, appliance details, insurance information, and house facts you enter are stored in a local database on your device. If you turn on iCloud Sync in Roost's settings, that database is mirrored to your private iCloud database so it syncs to your other devices signed into the same Apple Account. This sync is provided by Apple's CloudKit service under Apple's privacy policy; the data is tied to your Apple Account and is not accessible to the developer.
Roost uses the camera solely to scan the QR labels you print for your storage boxes. Scanning happens entirely on-device. No images or scan data leave your phone.
Photos you attach to boxes, items, measurements, appliances, or warranty documents are stored with the rest of your data — on your device and, if sync is on, in your private iCloud. Roost only accesses the specific photos you choose in the photo picker.
If you turn on due-date alerts, Roost schedules local notifications on your device for your reminder due dates. No push-notification server is involved and no data is sent anywhere to deliver them.
Your data is yours. Delete individual records inside the app at any time, or delete the app to remove all local data. If iCloud Sync was enabled, you can remove the synced copy in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Roost does not collect data from anyone, including children.
If Roost's privacy practices ever change, this page will be updated and the effective date revised. Given the app's design — no servers, no accounts — we don't expect them to.
